The Pirate Ship Steers Toward Dragon Con

ATLANTA, GA -- Dragon*Con 2007 will be held over the Labor Day weekend, August 31-September 3 at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta, Atlanta Marriott Marquis and Atlanta Hilton & Towers hotels located in downtown Atlanta, Georgia, USA.

Dragon*Con is America's largest annual convention for fans of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror, Comics and Art, Games and Computers, Animation, Science, Music, Television and Films. It is also one of the 10 largest annual conventions in metropolitan Atlanta.

Every year, Dragon*Con hosts over 600 hours of panels, workshops, demonstrations and discussions with authors, editors, artists, game designers and media personalities. Some individual programming tracks concentrate on specific interests like Star Trek, Star Wars, British and American television, Anne McCaffrey's Pern, NASA Space Science, JRR Tolkien's Middle-Earth, Electronic Frontiers, and more.

2007 introduces 2 new programming tracks, Apocalypse Rising which will feature popular television shows such as Jericho and The Tribe as wall as cover a broader apocalyptic theme in movies, television, books, and music...even prophecy, theology, and mythology. And the Buffy, the Vampire Slayer track will change its name to the Whedon Universe to incorporate all of Joss Whedon’s creations such as Angel and Firefly and movies including Serenity, Titan A.E., Alien Resurrection and Toy Story.

Dragon*Con also presents theatrical and radio performances, concerts and dances, gaming tournaments, costume contests, the 17th Annual Robot Battles, the 6th Annual Dragon*Con Parade, Professional Championship Wrestling, auctions and charity events, plus one of the nation's best Art Shows & Print Shops, one of the largest Dealers Rooms & Exhibit Halls in the world, and 24 hour Video and Film Rooms.

This year's charity auction will benefit the American Diabetes Association. In association with the charity auction, Dragon*Con is proud to announce that we are forming TEAM DRAGON to participate in the Tour de Cure on May 20, 2007. Our team will join more than 800 cyclists to pedal our way to a cure for diabetes. Team captain, John Tackett, is confident that our team will raise more than $1500 for the cause.

Rates for Dragon*Con 2007 are set for 4-Day Memberships. The cost will be $85 at-the-door. Discounts are available to groups of 10 or more if purchased in advance. Dragon*Con membership covers all four days, all panels, discussion groups, events, demonstrations, concerts, performances, contests, and a host of other activities. Memberships are available by mail, online via PayPal, or at the convention.
